Paranormal Podcasts

Here is a list of podcasts that I listen to. Most are on iTunes but there are other ways to get them such as Spotify, Stitcher, or an RSS feed. You're smart, you figure it out.

Beyond Reality RadioBack in 2007, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson were doing Beyond Reality Radio and then went on about an eight year hiatus. It's back now with hosts Jason and JV Johnson, although since doing Ghost Nation, Jason is hardly on anymore. The content and topics are what you would expect from the TAPS group including obviously ghosts and hauntings, to exorcisms, cryptozoology, aliens, and UFOs.

The Ectoplasm ShowHosts Jason Kupzyk and Josh Heard do one of the more entertaining paranormal podcasts that I've listened to in quite a while. They bring a few paranormal stories in the news to the podcast and give their own opinions on whether the story is credible or just downright bullshit. There is plenty of naughty language here and funny homoerotic talk that Josh really likes to put out there every episode. Josh lives in Iowa and doesn't have the best connection, so every now and then their Skype session drops or goes haywire. Give it a shot and I think you'll like it. "Lighten up dark matter...have a craft beer!"

Conversations in the DarkHost Josh Heard from the Ectoplasm Show hosts this with some chick named Potter. Josh runs Malvern Manor in Malvern, Iowa and the podcast is pretty much dedicated to all things Malvern Manor. They talk about some of the investigations that have gone on and the results, visitors to the Manor, and more interesting topics such as what the invisible residents of Malvern Manor like to do to Josh when he is taking a dump. I really like this one but they seem to be on hiatus at the moment. Beware of potty words if easily offended.

Hillbilly Horror StoriesHusband and wife team, Jerry and Tracy Paulley tells stories of the weird and paranormal on this podcast with a little hillbilly twang. Jerry does his research and Tracy tries to keep up. It sounds like them doing the podcast is the first time she has heard the story and background of said subject of the show. It's great! Also covered on the show are mini-episodes on true crime, the occult, or rock music folklore. Be on the lookout for the occasional appearance of their dog Ninja.

History Goes BumpThis podcast is kind of like the first 15 minutes of a typical ghost hunting television show where the owner tells the team about the history and claims of an allegedly haunted location. Host Diane and occasional contributor Kelly Rang really do their research and delve into the history of haunted locations. Also included on the podcast are segments like "Moment in Oddity" and "This Day in History"

Real Paranormal ActivityThis is a podcast where the listeners send in their stories of paranormal experiences they have had and host Aaron Hunter reads them on the podcast. Most listener submitted stories are pretty good, but some people send in stories that are always a bit over the top. There are other shows on this podcast that I enjoy, mainly Terry's Mysterious Moments with Terry from Texas, that isn't always paranormal or whatever, just laid back storytelling. Also, be on the lookout for monthly video series. So go grab your green tea and off to the Story Den!!

Bagans BrosI am so glad I found this podcast. I've watched Ghost Adventures since the beginning, and it only took me a season to start making fun of Zak Bagans and his antics of being possessed, calling every thing demonic, finding portals to Hell, making poor Aaron Goodwin do all the shit jobs, etc. I thought this was going to be a fanboy podcast...boy was I wrong. Pretty much everything I am thinking when I watch it, these guys have it nailed. The episodes are pretty long, so it's a hefty chunk of time to carve out, but if you can't help but make fun of Zak and his homies engaging in their wacky paranormal exploits...oh boy, check this out. It's not all ragging on the show, when they do something right, then give credit but those segments are few and far between. Love it.

The Aenigma ProjectWow! I don't even know how to describe this one. It is a train wreck, but a harmless and loveable train wreck that I eagerly wait to come out. Paul Cagle, Springwolf, and Sushi are the hosts and are apparently Skyping in and almost always have shitty connections. Paul is an avid ghost hunter, Springwolf is the resident Pagan because she has the cool nickname, and Sushi just doesn't buy into anything paranormal. Interesting topics of conversation are always broken up by extended silences, random outbursts of laughter at inside jokes, and of course how dumb and bigoted Christians are because they hate gay people...hmmmm is someone a bit sensitive? I look forward to more of the Free Form shows rather that specific topics, and always enjoy the "Truth or Tale" segment at the end.

The Paranormal PodcastStarted back in 2005 when podcasts were just beginning, Jim Harold staked his claim in the paranormal community with this one. The Paranormal Podcast runs the gamut of topics from hauntings and ghosts to cryptids, UFOs, psychics, and other Fortean subjects. He does do another podcast called The Campfire, but that has been ruined by way too many callers who live in a haunted house built on an ancient Indian burial ground and are tormented by demon doppelgangers with glowing red eyes that growl, "GET OUT!"

The Last Podcast on the LeftHosts Ben Kissel, Marcus Parks, and Henry Zebrowski cover pretty dark topics here. If you do not have a sense of humor, you will most likely be disgusted. Because the topics of Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, Jim Jones, Aleister Crowley, and the death of JonBenet Ramsey do not exactly conjur up the funny, they try and bring a little humor into awful situations to make it a bit more palatable. Hail Yourself!

Nightwatch RadioNightwatch is hosted by Kansas City horror and gore legendary director, Todd Sheets. Topics do include ghosts and hauntings, but also UFOs and aliens. Given Todd's love of horror movies, he does have many interviews with actors and directors of classic horror and slasher films. I consider myself quite a fan of those movies as well, but he goes deep into movies and actors I have never heard of.
