Vacation to Kings Island & Cedar Point
(click pictures to enlarge)

Brian and I left early Thursday morning to drop off The Bob with Shane & Massa.  From there, we hit the road and drove out to Cincinnati, Ohio to hang out with our friend Al, visit Kings Island and Cedar Point amusement parks.  Lots of roller coasters, extreme thrill rides, and fun were to be the theme of this vacation.  I have included some sound clips that I made along the way to log things as they happened.

On the road, leaving Kansas City, Missouri

Brian at my place.  Almost ready to head out.

It's a Jesus Fish!!

Me and the car

The slowest Taco Bell in America is in Vandalia, Illinois.

The big field next to the slow Taco Bell.

Time for Brian to drive.  This is somewhere in Indianapolis where we traded navigational duties. Note the we're so goth.

hmmm, gee...I wonder who's car this could be :)

I haven't seen a Dunkin Donuts in ages.  This was breakfast before heading to Kings Island.

Almost to the top...

Entrance to Top Gun suspended coaster

A very empty line...YAY!

It's Chili-Vision!!

Almost to the Top Gun, but now a work from our sponsor

Still in line for Top Gun

The Delirium is a pendulum ride that swings back and forth, while the wheel on the end spins around

After a few rides, it's time to hit up Bubba Gump's Shrimp Shack for some lunch

I don't know if the food or the Zydeco music is making Brian look disgusted

Al looking intelligent

Me and my Fish & Chips Fries

Brian and me

Brian and Al in front of The Racer. It was alright, but would have been better if the other train was running, so we could race.

Entrance to the Vortex.  Lots of walking up and down steps...uggghh, but well worth it.

The Vortex.  We all agreed this was the best coaster at Kings Island.

The Vortex

This is our overpriced picture of us riding the Vortex

Brian and I at the entrance of The Beast, the world's longest wooden coaster at 7400 feet

The coaster is all in the woods, so you can't really see it, even from the 330 foot observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.

An overhead sign above the trains as they are in the station

An incoming train at the end of its ride on The Beast.  This is all of the ride you can see.

Tomb Raider.  A fun ride, but not worth the 2 hour wait we endured.

A raft ride guaranteed to get you drenched.  If the ride doesn't get you soaked, then the patrons will with water cannons they can shoot...for a price of course.

Looks like Brian opened up his own restaurant chain at Kings Island

The Italian Job stunt ride was down that day.

Entrance to Flight of Fear indoor looping coaster with a 60 mph take off out of the station.  Another favorite.

Hangar 18, which holds Flight of Fear

A little nod to the Megadeth song \m/\m/

Bureau of Paranormal Activity

Once you enter the building and walk down into a concrete bunker, you are inside the Flight of Fear

After walking up into the flying saucer, and down a couple corridors, you're finally at the ride.  Strap yourself in good!

It rained while we rode Flight of Fear, and we caught this rainbow when we got outside.

This is me being all pseudo-tough

The Racer once again.  Note the backwards path of the train.  One train faces forward, and one train faces backward.

The Delirium at night.  This ride was too much fun.

This is the fountain at the front of the park, with the Eiffel tower in the back.  It was a long, fun, and exhausting day. Time to go home.

Here's the sleeping arrangements back at Al's house.  Y'know, those Aerobeds are pretty comfy.

The Arcade and Park Operations area

The Mean Streak taken from our little train ride while rides were still down due to the rain.

The Mean Streak again

The 300 foot Power Tower. Two towers launch you up, and the other two drop you.

The Wildcat.  We rode this one for nostalgia purposes.  Nothing scary, just a quick little fun ride.

The Wildcat in all of its fury...hehe

The Cedar Point Marina behind Millennium Force

The ending turn to Millennium Force

The 420 foot tower of Top Thrill Dragster.  One of the most insane rides I have ever been on.

Me and Brian waiting to get on Top Thrill Dragster.  Due to a mild sprinkle, the ride had to be shut down.

Brian and I waiting to get launched 120 mph down the Top Thrill Dragster.  We were waiting at the starting point 4 different times, but due to weather conditions and technical difficulties, we couldn't go.

Due to the rain delay, when we eventually did launch, our train shot up to the top of the 420 foot tower, but didn't have enough momentum to go we came back down backwards. What an unexpected rush!!

Time to head back.

On the way back from Cedar Point, we got maybe an hour into the trip before I decided it would be in our best interest to find a hotel.  We stopped at a Travelodge.  Extreme exhaustion the past two days took its toll.

Brian looking all wiped out

Brian taking a bedtime sip of Dr. Pepper.

This is me...sunburn and all

Al showing us the nasty coffee they supply guests with

Al just before he passes out for the night

After getting back to Al's place in Cincinnati.  We're all packed and ready to make the journey back to Kansas CIty.

Me and Brian outside of Al's apartment.  Brian has a dour look on his face for this picture, so....

...we tried again.  This time with feeling :)

I have no idea what this place is, but the sign intrigues me for some reason.

The Fifth Third Bank?  I wonder where the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Third Banks are.

Skyline Chili wasn't that bad.  Nothing extraordinary.  Just chili and cheese on spaghetti.

The plastic owl on the roof in the back of Skyline Chili.
